When they mention paradise, this is really where they are talking about.
We both slept in and relaxed until afternoon. I took care of some of the chores one of which was replacing the furling line that had chafed to the point of breaking. After lunch we took the dogs on a stroll around the immediate area and met up with David Turner, a friend from Georgia that is here with his mom until he heads to Vegas later this week. We agreed to meet later at Mallory Square and head to 801 later. We headed back to the boat.
About 7 we left the dogs aboard although Key West is a very pet friendly town and headed to Mallory Square taking in the sights along the way. We also realized we didn't bring the camera. Sorry, but no pics but we will take more while we are here. Mallory Square is like a circus with dozens of street performers, food vendors and lots of people. No cruise ships were in port so I guess it was quieter than usual. We met up with David and wandered around eventually walking up Duval toward 801. 801 was David's recommendation for great entertainment and decent prices on drinks. 801 is also a very infamous drag bar with live shows at 9 and 11. True to its reputation, it is a hell of a show. The drink special was Long Island Ice Tea for $5 and I took full advantage. Beth wasn't drinking even though everything is walking distance but apparently I had her share. We ended the evening around 1 am and walked back to the dock. If you are ever in Key West, you really have to see the show at 801.
